Different interests, more playing and climbing independently. Your little one gets a trapped feeling from the crib, tries to escape it or has just literally outgrown it. From nursery to kids bedroom

Isn’t there a new family member on the way to snuggle up in the nursery? Then the restyling can begin! First of all, check whether the basics of the nursery are still useful. A little bit of paint or a new wallpaper works wonders. If a completely new kids bedroom is created, you also start with the basics. Choose the right floor covering. Do you want a nice colour of paint or do you prefer wallpaper on the wall? Then choose the desired window decoration and the foundation for your nursery is laid. Now it’s a lot easier to make decisions for decorating the room. You have a much better idea of which furniture matches well with this.

The room my kid dreams of…

Dark or light shades. Cool or romantic. Have you fallen for a particular style or just elements of it? Lots of things to think about, so just ask for help! Your child has now formed its own will and is able to help you with making choices. For example, a desired theme, favourite colour or superhero works perfectly as a starting point. It’s also a great preparation for this exciting step, by doing it together. Having your own room in a favourite theme is like a dream come true!

Bigger kids, bigger furniture

With the transition to the kids bedroom, comes the transition to new furniture. If you don’t have an extendable bed, it’s time to buy a bigger one. Whether this will be a junior bed (70×150 cm.) or teen bed (90×200 cm.) is up to you. In any case, choose a low bed with possibly a fall protection. From the age of 6, a high sleeper becomes interesting. Children are used to sleep independently and are more aware of possible dangers. At this age, a writing desk is also often discussed. For a small room, the combination of these 2 is perfect. You can easily place a desk under the high sleeper to leave as much space as possible!

Bigger kids, more stuff to organise? If the dresser seems to be unnecessary, you may want to replace it with a spacious wardrobe. If you’re already have one, a 2-door wardrobe can make room for a 3-door wardrobe. If you even need more storage space, there are many other storage options for the kids bedroom. Think of drawers under the bed, storage baskets, wall shelves or a bedside table.

When buying all furniture from the same series, you create peace and unity in the kids room. If the room is already quite basic, it’s nice to go for something special. Of course, there is always furniture available that’s ‘just a little different’. Get a real eye catcher in your kids room, when it fits perfectly into the theme. For example, consider a house bed.

How to decorate the children’s room

There are a number of things to keep in mind when decorating the kids bedroom. Besides beautiful, the room must be safe and practical above all. Hide cables, close sockets and see what other safety measures are possible. Children are starting to play more independently and need more space. A carpet or play rug should certainly not be missing. Finish the room with cute decorations and the job is done. The bedtime story will soon be a real party. Just snuggle in bed together until it’s time for your little one to close its eyes. Just a little while longer before your (not so) little one is dreaming away here…
