Which blanket do you need?

Choose from the wide range of wonderful crib and cot blankets at Baby Plus. A nice warm teddy blanket in the winter or an breathable blanket for the hot summer days. You will find the right blanket for your child for every season. The choice of blankets is huge, but which blanket do you actually need? These tips will undoubtedly help you find the right blanket:

  • Do not use a duvet for your baby up to the age of 2 years. A duvet is often too warm and loose, which can entangle babies.
  • In principle, there are two standard dimensions for blankets that you can use. For a cot, use a blanket measuring 75 x 100 cm. and for a crib you use a 100 x 150 cm blanket. If your baby’s bed has different dimensions, it is something to pay attention to when purchasing a blanket.
  • The ambient temperature in summer is considerably higher than in winter. So you can make a choice here. To choose the perfect blanket, take into account the season in which your little one is expected. TOG value can help you with this, below you will find a short explanation.

What is TOG value?

The abbreviation TOG stands for ‘Thermal Overall Grade’ and is a measure that indicates the extent to which bed textiles and clothing retain body heat. The higher the TOG value, the more heat the product retains and the lower the TOG value, the less heat the product continues to carry. Use TOG to determine whether you are wrapping your child at the right. The recommended TOG value is based on the indoor temperature and is between 0.0 and 4.0. temperature.

Mix & match the sheets and blankets

The order of making your bed is first the sheet and then the blanket. By placing a sheet under the blanket, your baby will not feel anything stinging or itching. That is much more comfortable and safer for your baby. At Baby Plus we have many prints and colours for crib and cot sheets.
