These items often have a TOG value. But what does this actually mean, and why is it important? In this article, you’ll learn more about the TOG value, so you can make confident choices for your baby’s sleeping environment.
What is TOG value?
TOG stands for ‘Thermal Overall Grade’. This is a measure used to assess the thermal insulation of textile products. In the context of baby items, the TOG value refers to how well a particular garment or bedding item can retain body heat while also allowing excess heat to escape. The higher the value, the better the fabric retains body heat. The lower the value, the faster the heat escapes. It’s a crucial factor in creating a safe and comfortable sleeping environment for your little one. Various baby items have this value, including duvets, sleeping bags, blankets, and clothing. Using multiple layers of thin clothing is often more effective than one thick layer. This allows you to easily add or remove a layer if there are changes in temperature.

What are important features for you. Do you want a seat that can be used with one hand, a version with a full reclining position, a swivel base or one that grows with your child? When should I start teaching my child to eat with cutlery?
Every child develops at their own pace, but generally you can expect your child to be able to use a spoon around 12 to 18 months and a fork around 2 years old. Pay close attention to your child’s pace, curiosity, and motor skills. If your child isn’t holding a spoon by itself yet, start at a later time. Be patient. There’s no rush.
